Touch Screen

This Control4® kit provides a wall box (back box) to accommodate the installation of a 5” and 7” In-Wall Touch Screen including the 7” In-Wall Touch Screen with Camera. The kit is intended for new construction where drywall is not yet in place. Along with the back box, the kit contains a stud plate for attachment to a wall stud prior to drywall installation.

Wireless

With more reliance on wireless devices—speakers, phones, tablets, laptops, etc.—choosing the correct Access Point (AP) for a project can make or break performance. First look at overall speed, denoted as a, b, g, n, or ac. AC is the fastest, with potential speeds of up to a gigabit. The antenna array is denoted as 2x2, 3x3, etc. A simple rule of thumb: The more antennas, the more overall devices and traffic your network can handle. Range is another important consideration, and varies wildly among manufacturers—the greater the range, the less APs will be required. Next, look at project-specific features: is this a business install that requires features like plenum rated housing or RADIUS integration? Finally, consider the number of APs you’ll be installing: Inclusion of a Wireless Controller greatly reduces configuration difficulty and keeps the network optimized in installations with multiple APs.

Switches

Switches come with many shapes, sizes, port counts, and features—all of which are important things to take into consideration when purchasing a switch. Unmanaged switches are simple to install—just plug and play. Managed switches have configuration options, allowing for enhanced traffic management and network optimization. PoE and PoE+ switches are able to power connected devices without additional AC power—ideal for devices like security cameras, VoIP phones, and touch panels, and even certain switches. Powered by PoE switches take standard PoE power—no AC required.
